Muse Event Center Where Kayla Weds Dylan

Kayla and Dylan. Their fall wedding at Muse Event Center was beyond beautiful. It included amazing details like framed engagement pictures, personalized groomsmen flasks, and a lot of DIY projects that were finished under pressure and a little last minute (more on that in episode 41 and 42).

It happens often that in the division of labor for wedding tasks, the groom makes his own list of to dos. Outside of the typical ‘order late night pizza’ or ‘pick up kegs’, Dylan had a unique set of projects, including (but not limited to): build a platform stage, build wood pillars, spray paint 45+ lanterns, and unwrap over 100 candles.

And he accomplished it all.

Also impressive, even without full nights of sleep leading up to the wedding Dylan was still calm and collected on his wedding day. Kayla had her own extensive to do list and together this couple pulled off a wedding that featured a lot of crowd pleasing moments: a kissing menu, mini guest favors that doubled as place cards and meal markers, a kabuki streamer send off (for newlywed photos), and plenty of cake.

6 THINGS WE CAN LEARN

Do not save DIY projects for last minute!
Place cards don’t need to be boring, think outside the box and incorporate your favors or meal markers
If you go for ice cream during your cocktail hour, bring your photographers
Guests can’t eat dinner until you eat dinner so be mindful of how long you keep them waiting
If you invite college friends to your wedding, be sure to sing a college song
A whole wedding group photo is easily captured on the dance floor

I found Josey through a recommended vendors from our venue--I initially didn't think we needed a day-of coordinator, but after our venue required one, I sought out someone who best fit mine and my now-husband's personalities + our overall vision for the day. After meeting Josey, I just knew that she would be perfect for the job. She was SUPER organized, bubbly, down to earth, genuinely interested in making sure our day was perfect, and as a bonus she looked just like my maid of honor. Ha! It was a sign. It's a shame we're only getting married once because I'd love to spend more time with her. She was super easy to work with during the entire process and was always quick to answer an email no matter how dumb my question seemed. I wanted our day to be seamless and relaxed, and a day for our families (and us, of course!) to enjoy without worrying about logistics and all the "behind the scenes" stuff. I am so relieved we ended up having a coordinator, especially Josey and her team, because our day was simply perfect. I would recommend her to anyone, she is as good as they get.

What we really appreciated about working with Josey is that she helped us plan our wedding on our own terms. She gave us a ton of tools and advice and feedback, but ultimately did not pressure us on anything. Instead, she helped us make decisions by listening to our ideas and writing them down as if they had been decided - which was perfect for us because we would have agonized over decisions right up until the last minute.

Josey single handedly changed Hannah’s mind about day-of coordinators. Our wedding would not have been possible, let alone as beautiful and fun and joyful as it was, without her guidance and support. Josey coordinated our wedding on August 25 and we had a fantastic experience working with her. Leading up to the wedding, Josey maintained a great amount of contact and communication by reaching out frequently enough to keep us comfortable that we were all on track with planning. She’s also very quick with recommendations and responses to our questions—even at the height of wedding season. I didn’t realize how valuable having a good day-of coordinator would be until the wedding day actually arrived! Josey made the day so much better. She anticipated things that we never would have considered and stayed on top of a huge number of details (everything from vendors, timelines, and layout to tricky social dynamics and my very particular demands about music transitions and media presentations).
