WEDDING ROOM BLOCKS
READY, SET, WED | DAY 3
If you've never before had to reserve a wedding room block, then perhaps you are scratching your head and wondering, 'how does this work?'.
And in that case, I'd love for you to sit back, listen, take notes but know I've already done that for you in the show notes/blog post, and learn How to Book a Wedding Room Block.
Scroll down and click on the audio link in the download section. Press play and then come back here for the notes.
Refer to your workbook for your hotel worksheet, you'll use this when going through the inquiry process.
PLEASE NOTE: The audio contains whistling and it's not the best whistling I ever whistled.
NOTES:
STEP 1: DETERMINE HOW MANY PEOPLE MIGHT NEED A HOTEL ROOM
STEP 2: GOOGLE MAP HOTELS
STEP 3: CHOOSE A MAXIMUM OF 3 HOTELS
Use this fancy app from The Knot, to narrow it down.
STEP 4: CALL AND CONFIRM
Say something like this:
“I am interested in creating a room block for my wedding on X DATE, can you please tell me if you have X number of rooms or more available?”
STEP 5: RELAY THE ROOM BLOCK INFORMATION TO YOUR WEDDING GUESTS
Tell guests that they should book their room 1 week before the actual day that rooms will be released. Hotels release room blocks (or they allow non-wedding guests to book the rooms they had set aside for you and your guests) generally 30 days or so before your wedding day. They do this so that if you miscalculated the number of rooms you will need they can still make money. Oh the joys of commerce.
STEP 6: CARE ABOUT THE BONUSES
Some of my very favorite bonuses? Upgrades to the suite, free shuttle, post-wedding champagne.
Don't forget to use the workbook worksheet when you get to work calling hotels. #werkwerkwerkwerkwerk
