A Friday Wedding Filled with Balloons

I JUST GOT ENGAGED, WHERE DO I START PLANNING?

Hannah and her now-husband, Jason, decided that their venue was their top priority. So naturally, Hannah had the Machine Shop booked before Jason had even popped the question! Once the venue was booked every other detail of the wedding just fell into place.

Because they booked a venue with preferred vendors, or vendors that are either required or highly recommended to book in conjunction with the venue, the next steps were quite easy. They inquired with the preferred caterers, selected their bar menu (the venue requires liquor go through them), and from there, the layout started to come together based on their initial guest count.

WHY THIS VENUE?

For Hannah it was the bathrooms, LOL. More than that the venue matched both Hannah's and Jason's vision for what their wedding would look like, and the aesthetic of their relationship. When you are selecting a wedding venue think of something that represents the two of you.

It need not be equally, for example if one of you is more yielding than the other than it can be a bold statement to opt for a venue that is easily identifiable with only one of you. Like if you're a groom and hunting is a really big part of your life, your fiancé will be showing a lot of benevolence when they agree to get married at the Horse and Hunt Club.

Jason didn't want something like a country club setting, but he really loves old buildings, and Hannah loved the idea of something new and sophisticated. The Machine Shop is an old warehouse that has been newly renovated with a modern chic feel.

Another factor in selecting a venue? Having the space to host both the ceremony and the reception in the same place. This can be a large convenience for guests who only need ot park once, navigate once, and move locations once.

All of that makes your life easier.

WHAT'S THIS ABOUT BALLOONS FOR WEDDING DECOR?

It is so important to infuse your wedding with your personality (see blog posts here and here for how to tips). Hannah's personality is fun and flirty, and she wanted her decor to match that.  She wanted something that was different, whimsical, and fun. Just look at the pictures of the awesome balloon display. Screams fun and flirty amiright?

WHY IS A VIDEOGRAPHER IMPORTANT?

Your wedding day is a whirlwind and sometimes, the little details get forgotten. Hannah admits being so overwhelmed with emotion that she can't remember much of what happened. The videographer captures all of those sweet (blurred) moments, like the speeches, that you may not remember at first. If you're on the fence about whether or not to invest in a videographer, topple on over, get a videographer and let yourself be amazed with all the moments and memories they capture.

HANNAH'S ADVICE

One piece of advice is to ask for the venue to be closed to the public before the actual ceremony. That way the vendors can finish getting everything together and the bride and groom are not disturbed before the wedding.

Sometimes you might have a plan, and sometimes those plans don't work out, so be OK with that. Some people might not know where to park or might have trouble getting to the location, so be patient and gracious if they walk in late.

THIS WEDDING IS ABOUT YOU AND YOUR FIANCE. YOU DON'T NEED TO MAKE EVERYONE HAPPY, YOU JUST NEED TO BE HAPPY. DON'T LET THE LITTLE THINGS GET IN THE WAY OF THAT.
