NOW ACCEPTING 2018 NOMINATIONS

It all started when...

In 1987 Okinawa, Japan a lovable redhead from Washington State and a serious-looking young man from Connecticut had their first date. Just 4 months later they were wed, accompanied by a few friends, a cake made of Hostess Ho-Hos, and a two piece wedding dress from the local seamstress.

Decidedly a short engagement, but those in the armed services are sure to relate. The military is full of unknowns, which make getting married even more stressful. Deployments can make one feel both rushed and unprepared, on top of impending concern, doubt, and worry. All the while reassuring the thoughts and feelings you have about duty, commitment, and love.

My parents relationship has stood the test of time, 30 years and still a great reminder that there is one person out there for you, who will fit your life like no other. But as a wedding planner I think there should be an alternative to hurried engagements and Ho-Ho cakes (unless that’s your thing, of course). The Fairy Godmother Project is just that alternative.

We are asking for nominations for 1 couple, ready to wed but in need of a lot of pampering. We would greatly appreciate you taking the time to read the qualifications here and then completing the application below.

ABOUT US

Founded by Terri Uy-Lennon (Uy-Lennon Floral) and Amy Coppersmith (Coppersmith Photography), The Fairy Godmother Project is an opportunity for wedding vendors to show their patriotic gratitude, and for one couple in the armed services to have a wedding without the stress and a marriage that starts without the debt, one that still includes flowers and a photobooth, cake and decor details.

It all started with a bride named Paige, stressed with planning and stuck in the process of putting together a wedding. After seeing the eagerness of wedding vendors to gift their services and their time to a deserving military couple, the decision to make it an annual event was an easy one.

Do you know a couple who deserves a wedding without the stress? Check out the nomination qualifications here, and then nominate a couple in need.
